How To Clean Your Washing Machine

How to Clean Your Washing MachineCleaning your washing machine should be done on a regular basis about every 3 months. Detergent residue and bacteria builds up in your washing machine, which causes your washer to have a musty smell and not clean as well as it once did.

Cleaning Agents:

  • 1 Quart of Bleach
  • 1 Quart of White Vinegar

Cleaning Steps:

  1. Fill the empty washing machine with hot water at its highest load capacity.
  2. Pour in a quart of bleach.
  3. Let the full washing machine run for about one minute to mix the bleach and water.
  4. Open the machine lid and let sit with water-bleach mixture for about an hour.
  5. Shut the machine lid and let the washing machine run a complete wash cycle.
  6. Again fill the washing machine on its highest load capacity with hot water and pour in a quart of white vinegar.
  7. Let the washer run for about a minute to mix the water and vinegar.
  8. Open the machine lid and let the water-vinegar mixture sit for about an hour.
  9. Lastly, run a complete wash cycle with the water-vinegar mixture inside.

While the basin of your washing machine is getting sanitized,  remove the grime from the corners of the machine lid and other hard-to-reach areas with a toothbrush or damp cloth.
