DIY Bird FeederIf you are a parent looking for something fun for you and your kid to do together, look no further than these do-it-yourself cookie cutter bird feeders. They are cheap and easy to make and work great!

Items Needed:

  • 3/4 cup birdseed
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 packet of gelatin
  • cooking pan and stove
  • string or twine
  • cookie cutters
  • wax paper

1. Mix the packet of gelatin with 1/4 cup of water. Add the mixture to the pan and bring to a simmer on the stove. Be sure you are constantly stirring.

2.  Once the gelatin has dissolved in the water, remove the pan from the stove. After letting cool for about a minute, add in the 3/4 cup of birdseed and mix.

3. Spread out the wax paper and lay your cookie cutters across it. Fill them half full with the birdseed mixture.

4. Take your roll of string and cut a segment for each cookie cutter. Tie a knot at the end of each segment of string. Push the knot ends of the strings into birdseed mixtures in the cookie cutters.

5. Fill the other half of each cookie cutter with the knots pushed into them with the remaining birdseed mixture. Make sure that the knot is covered in each cookie cutter and that each cookie cutter is filled to its capacity.

6. Let the mixtures dry over night and then remove them from the cookie cutters.

7. Hang them where ever you see fit.
